You can maintain your existing records or old data(records) by transferring them into new created table which having different columns / attributes name with 1 condition => both old and new columns / attributes must be in common(same) data types.

The concept that I’m going to show is through the used of export & import via text file.
Export selected columns / attributes from old transact table (eg: oldTransact) into text file named “oldtransact.txt”
SELECT transactID, masterCode, pCode, effectiveDate, updatedBy, lastModifiedDate FROM oldTransact INTO OUTFILE 'C:/oldtransact.txt';
Import text file (“oldtransact.txt”) into new transact table (eg: newTransact).
LOAD DATA INFILE 'C:/oldtransact.txt' INTO TABLE newTransact (transactID, masterCode, pTransCode, paymentID, pymtRcvdDate, updatedBy, lastModifiedDate) SET paymentID=1;Share
